Taking a quick break from the families in the Census to start going through the National School Admission Registers.  Ranby Country Primary School is the School that takes its students from the Parishes of Sotby, Stainton and Ranby itself.  Ive already seen a few familiar names, from the Census, enrolling in the School.  The Register also gives the parents names and usually the date of birth of the student.  

When I get as far as 1891 I know I will see my great grandfathers name in the October, as mentioned here

I think Ill give myself a week or 2 per family.  As they aren't my ancestors I don't need to go into too much detail, although I still find them fascinating.  The second family are an older couple with some young servants.  I have identified all their children and located them in the 1841 Census and will most likely leave them be.

1841 Census now up.  Ive also done some research on the first family listed in the village.  Im not related to them at all but its still to hard to know when to stop looking for information.  Everyone of them is interesting. 

Glad to be making a start on the Sotby project.

Transcribing the Census from 1841-1891 will be my first challenge.  So far it is fascinating to see which families have been in the Village for decades.  The fact my Weatherhog family were there for so long is what got my interest in wanting to know more.  Lucky for me I guess that the village stayed relatively small over the decades.

Still not sure how to set it all up so I will have to do some research on other One Place studies for ideas/insperation.

Finally found time to update the Diploma of Family History pages.  Not sure when I will lose access to the Unit coursework so just got it done.

Now back to giving life to my ancestors, telling their stories.
