52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 1 : Id Like to Meet

I would like to meet my paternal grandmother Margaret Robinson (neé Weatherhog) who died in Lincolnshire, England when I was 5.  During the early days of my family history journey I found out I was born on her birthday.  Not sure why my father never thought to mention it.

I would also like to meet my paternal great grandfather Frederick Robinson.  He was my brick wall for about 30 years.  I eventually gave in to the 'DNA doesn't Lie" motto and have now gone back further generations. Family myth was he swam for his County.  I have been able to confirm through newspapers and emailing one of the clubs that he did indeed swim.  He was a regular with the Richmond Swimming Club in Middlesex, England in the early 1900s. On the 9th August 1909 he received a parchment from the Royal Human Society as he had 'gone to the rescue of a child who was in imminent danger of drowning'.  One of the many newpaper articles I found said he was presented with the award on one of his swimming nights. The original parchment is in the possession of one of my Aunts in England. Through the newspaper articles Ive been plotting his weekely/monthly results. Im happy to have found where I get my love of the sport from.  Sadly he died at 30. Family myth was he died as a result of the rescue but his death was nearly 2 years later so at the moment I dont think thats a feasible conclusion. His son Cecil went on to marry Margaret, mentioned above.
