HAA106 Oral History

Oral History was the next Unit of the Diploma I studied.

We had two main assessments. The first one was to conduct an Oral history interview with someone. We had to record the interview and transcribe a 10-minute excerpt. I decided to interview my brother about his memory of being adopted and also his discovery of his biological family. For our second assessment, we had to write a 1,000-word essay about a person, place or topic of our choice.  We had to use at least one oral history interview as a source but it didnt have to be the one we did in the first assessment. I decided it would be fun to do a bit more research on Adoption in Australia in the 1960s and 1970s so stuck with my interview of my brother. We also needed to make sure to provide context and colour by introducing additional relevant sources.

At this point I won't be sharing my final masterpiece but be assured, my marks were good and I found it fascinating to interview my brother.
