In 1841 William is living with Elizabeth Borringham and Ann Borringham (listed as a female servant).
At first glance it wasn't clear on the relationships. Thanks to additional notes in the column next to Elizabeths burial information, Rev T W Mossman - Vicar of Ranby has written, [? of Thomas Borringham of Sotby & ? of Edward Scholey] I took a leap with the unreadable words and found an Elizabeth Scholey marrying a Thomas Borringham on 30 July 1827 in Sotby. Williams mothers name was Ann and I found she had died in 1821. In a subsequent Census, Elizabeth is listed as his mother-in-law but she is his Step-mother. Williams father Thomas died in 1838.
Mary Gosling was from Langton by Wragby and was still with the family in 1851, by 1861 she has left. I found a David Balding born in Skirbeck around the right date. In 1851 he had moved to Great Sturton and was a servant for Thomas Scholey who is the cousin of William Borringham. In 1861 he was in Scarcroft, Yorkshire. Im unsure about William Baggley at this point. Two brothers move into Sotby bt the next Census and William is the right age to be son of either of them.
In 1851 William was still in Sotby with his step mum Elizabeth and as mentioned above, Mary Gosling was still with them. William now had 191 acres 3 Farm servants and a 2nd House servant.
I found some newspaper articles, mentioning William, from 1849 through to 1854 with a list of persons who have obtained their Game Certificate.
Elizabeth Borringham died in 1857. She was buried on 16 January 1857 in Sotby and in the Abode column this was written - [Horncastle for the last six weeks of her life. Previous to which she had lived at Sotby]
In 1860 William is listed as an executor of a deceased man named William Woodroffe of Scamblesby, Lincolnshire.
In 1861 William was living with his wife Lucy. Very frustrating that I have not found a marriage for this couple but I believe Carter was Lucys surname. Born in 1825 in Fulstow, Lincolnshire. There were also some young children with their Governess. The children are from Susanna, sister of Lucy.
William in late 1862 and was buried on 1 January 1863 in Sotby. The entry in the register said 'died suddenly' as mentioned previously and 'Uncle to Wm D.B'. I have taken this to mean Uncle to William Dunham Borringham.
In 1871 Lucy is still in Sotby. Just to complicate things, when Lucys mum Rebecca became a widow, she married another John, who also had the surname Borringham. I am unsure at this time if Williams dad Thomas and Lucys step dad John were brothers or its just a co-incidence. Maybe cousins? Anyway, in 1871 Lucy has moved in with her younger half brother William Dunham Borringham.
In 1881 Lucy has moved back to Hainton and is with her mum and dad, John and Rebecca Borringham. They are 81 and 82. Lucy Borringham died aged 55 in June 1881 and was buried 12 July in Hainton, Lincolnshire.
