Sadly, I can immediately think of a handful of family/ancestors that were gone too soon but I have settled on these 2.
My Maternal grandfather George Brittle was born in 1901 in London, England. He died in Sydney, Australia in 1958. He had quite an eventful life, coming to Australia as a valet for Sir Geoffrey Whiskard (our first High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Australia). At some point he was also a chef at Parliament House in Sydney (yet to be fully confirmed) Sadly he died when my mum was only 19 so didnt meet her future husband, walk her down the aisle or meet his fabulous grandkids *wink*
George, Margaret and daughter Patricia - 1940s
I don't even know where to start with the 2nd one. My father. Michael Alan Robinson was born in 1929 in Lincolnshire, England. He died in 1990 in Sydney, NSW, Australia. I have previously written about him here for a Diploma of Family History assignment. After I married in March 1989 he used to joke he was too young to be a grandfather so don't be too quick to have kids. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just before his birthday in August 1990 and died on September 29, 1990. His first grandchild was born February 1992. It saddens me every day that he missed out on his grandkids, and more importantly they missed out on him. Of course they are now growing up and having children of their own. My mum at 83 is still with us but dad was 10 years older than her. I realise that if the cancer hadn't taken him he wouldn't necessarily be with us now in his mid 90s but a girl can dream.
